I like to have a full specification worked out with each customer before I start buying or cutting wood. To help smooth the whole definition phase, please spend a few minutes to think about the following checklist ahead of calling/emailing me to discuss your commission:

               Round neck (frets, bottleneck/blues style)
       Steel string acoustic:
               Parlor/OO/OOO

               Jumbo (small/medium/full size)
               No cutaway
                       - Full volume/bass
                       - Hard to reach upper frets
               Venetian cutaway (rounded)
                       - Easy to reach upper frets
                       - Volume/bass reduced by up to 20%
               Florentine cutaway (pointed)
                       - Easy to reach upper frets
                       - Volume/bass reduced by up to 20%
               6 or 12 string
               12 or 14 frets to the body
       Classical
       
Back/Side Tonewood:
       Mahogany (Honduran, African, Cuban)
               - Mellow, woody sound with overtones
               - Bass and treble enhanced
               - Relatively inexpensive
       Koa (Hawaiian)
               - Fairly dense, produces clean loud sound
               - Good midrange response
               - Mid-priced
       Walnut (Claro, Bastogne)
